Ian Hunter
Book Signing at Virgin
Megastore
Oxford Street, London
21st April 1997

Your intrepid Half Moon Bay reporting team were present at the
Oxford Street, London Virgin Megastore book and record signing
session to greet Ian Hunter along with hundreds of other fans,
on Monday 21st April 1997.
It was all in aid of the UK release of his new album 'The
Artful Dodger' and to further promote the fast-selling
and well respected book "Diary
of a Rock n Roll Star".
The whole thing had been put in jeapordy as the day started
with five main railway stations in the capitol closed by terrorist
alerts. Still, we all made it and were rewarded with our copies
of the new album, photos and a video message from the former
Mott the Hoople front-man.
A varied crowd, many on their lunch break, brought
along all sorts of Mott and Ian Hunter memorabilia to be signed:
old albums, CD collections, posters, original copies of "Diary
of a Rock n Roll Star", magazines, photo books. 'The Artful Dodger'
played in-store throughout the hour and a half session which
saw Citadel (record label) and Megastore staff hurridly bring
out extra copies of the new album to satisfy demand.
