Half Moon
Bay says... As
always, an excellent overall package with entertaining
and very infomative notes.
One of the things some us oldies bemoan is the passing
of the gatefold album sleeve with all the rich and evocative
artwork that would have accompanied a recording such as
this. But here we have someting to aid our enjoyment of
what is very good prog rock of the day.
Morgan lets it slip in the notes for track 1 that he was
very much into ELP at the time and as soon as you know
that you can naturally hear the influences. However, I
have to say that Morgans playing is maybe less daunting
and more entertaining than Kieth Emersons stuff.
This is a good companion to the already released 'The
Sleeper Wakes' from Angel Air and chock full of very
contemporary, and beyond the contemporary of the time,
stuff and sounds.
Completists will need this record but I do understand
these old prog rock things are, maybe, an acquired taste.
However, if that is (or was) your sort of thing, then this
is a fine example of that and good to listen to while working,
actually.
