Mick Ronson
after Mott the Hoople

Ronno teamed-up with Ian Hunter to
produce the former Mott frontman's first solo lp 'Ian Hunter'.
His own second solo album 'Play Don't Worry' had seen the light
of day in late 1974 (co-inciding with the demise of Mott the Hoople)
and it seemed that Mick Ronson was one of those guitarists that
would go all the way.
But as is so often the case, this wasn't to be. He joined Dylans
Rolling Thunder tour in 1975 but then largely dissappeared from
view, producing here and there, until re-joining Hunter for 1985's
'You're Never Alone with a Schizophrenic'
His last public performance was the Freddie Mercury Tribute at
Wembley, joining Hunter, Bowie, May, Deacon and Taylor together
with Joe Elliot and Phil Collen of Def Leppard for a rendition
of 'All The Young Dudes'.
A year later Mick sadly died of cancer. A fine guitarist and no
prima-dona, he deserved more than he got in the star stakes. At
his time of death, he was working on a new solo record, Heaven
and Hull, as well as working on the Morrisey album "Your Arsenal".
